PI CSC Works with Partners to Develop and Translate Climate Research!

04/02/2014

The Pacific Islands Climate Science Center (PI CSC) is working with regional partners to support the development, translation and dissemination of climate science research in the Pacific Islands. Major partners of the PI CSC include the Pacific Islands Climate Change Cooperative (PICCC), the NOAA Pacific Regional Integrated Sciences & Assessments, The Hawaiʻi at Mānoa, University of Hawaiʻi at Hilo and the University of Guam.

Dave Helweg, Director of the PI CSC, was quoted in an article by the O'ahu-based Midweek publication“A great deal of science has been very high quality, but it has not been translated to who is going to use it to make decisions. And even though it is about climate, it is really a people program, and we have to get the information to people so they can use it”.

The PI CSC was also highlighted in a short video from the Pacific News Center.

Dr. Helweg is visiting the University of Guam Water and Environmental Research Institute today (April 2) to give a presentation to regional stakeholders and the public on the "Vision and Framework of Science at the Department of Interior Pacific Islands Climate Science Center".
